Recent news reports have highlighted potential risks with some Spanish Banks after the downgrading by Moodys. Santander is an International Bank and the UK operation is fully independent, rating 1 notch higher than its parent company. Although Santander UKs rating has fallen slightly the rest of the UK Banks are likely to also fall when they are rerated at the end of June.

Santander's European exposure is less than 1% of total assets and it is much better placed to weather the current Eurozone crisis than many of its competitors. Please see the Press release for full details.
